PROMOTING INNOVATIVE WAY

Introduction
Advance education in Indonesia tends to emphasize the learning that teachers are implementing the system to focus knowledge transfer from teacher to student which the teacher as the most intelligent person in the class. Especially in mathematics, a student must memorize the formula for education that is applied only to prepare for national examinations. They learn to pass the exam, so the implementation of learning methods is always uses the expository method.
This is contrary to the principles of learning that a good learning is involves both interaction among learners, learners with teachers, and students with the environment. Nowadays, the process of teaching learning using teacher-centered was traditional regarded and replaced with student-centered learning.

We can think and analyze in general the aspect of teaching learning mathematics. We can also take an example or small example to develop it. Try to understand to be meaningfully about the aspect and compare of the ideas then our experience is match with the idea. Not only the experience but also the references. But in the other hand, we can also start from a deductive way coming from the role, the system, and the government.
If we draw a line may be an imaginary line so that we can write the sequence of existing systems from the particular to the general as following: example, activities, programs, model, schema, design, theories, paradigm, philosophy, religion, and the world. Based on the sequence above we found some differences on how to teach that is obtained by the way of teaching such as for the first it is traditional way and the second is innovative way.  Traditional way of teaching has many characteristics such as:
1.      The teacher is only and the only source of learning
2.      The students are the passive learner
3.      The paradigm of teaching method is transfer of knowledge
4.      The students have no role in the class
5.      The students are as the object
6.      The role of the teacher is to give knowledge
7.      The students are dependent on the teacher
8.      Otoritarian teaching
While the characteristics of an innovation way of teaching are:
1.      The students are the object
2.      Teacher as facilitator
3.      The paradigm of teaching method : change of behavior
4.      The students are to construct their own knowledge
5.      The students are the active learner
6.      The students is independent on the teacher
From both characteristic we can think or analyze that an innovative way satisfy criteria of good learning based on the curriculum. Through this way, may be suggested that to improve the quality of mathematics education, the central government needs to: (1) redefine the role of the teachers i.e. they should facilitate students' need to learn, (2) redefine of the role of principals i.e. they should support the professional development of teachers by allowing them to attend and participate in scientific, meetings and trainings, (3) redefine the role of schools i.e. they should promote school-based management, (4) redefine the role of supervisor i.e. they need to have similar background with the teachers they supervise in order to be able to do academic supervision, (5) (6) promote better collaboration between school and university (7) redefine national evaluation system (Marsigit). Innovation is better because through this way students can interact with other students, teachers and the environment. Students not only listen to or receive knowledge from the teacher but they are may find their concept or construct their ideas with the teacher's role as facilitator.
Conclusion
Outdated paradigm seems if teachers implement transfer of knowledge as the teaching methods. Because we know that the students should have their own learning rather than memorizing formulas and develop their own concept and ideas. An innovative way of teaching is better than traditional way of teaching. To implement an innovative way may be suggested that to improve the quality of mathematics education, the central government needs to: (1) redefine the role of the teachers i.e. they should facilitate students' need to learn, (2) redefine of the role of principals i.e. they should support the professional development of teachers by allowing them to attend and participate in scientific, meetings and trainings, (3) redefine the role of schools i.e. they should promote school-based management, (4) redefine the role of supervisor i.e. they need to have similar background with the teachers they supervise in order to be able to do academic supervision, (5) (6) promote better collaboration between school and university (7) redefine national evaluation system (Marsigit).
